Hello. Andy told me ages ago that you had blogged again but I kept forgetting to come and look. I still can’t believe how many of my friends are still so anti-home birth after all my advocating! I have a friend who is due to have her second baby in August and is tentatively down [...]

I can’t believe how long it’s been since my last post. Consequently, I imagine no-one will actually read this one because you’ll all have given up even looking, but never mind. Or maybe you’ll look in case this is where we announce Brister’s birth, get all excited when you see there’s a new post and [...]

My problem with this ethical dilemma (the terrorists on a plane one) was the “realistic opportunity” part. I find it highly unlikely that there would be a realistic opportunity for me to get a gun off a terrorist. However, that aside, I think I agree with Jack. I would shoot the terrorists, but it would [...]

Well, he wasn’t too sure to be honest! He walked a bit but as the snow’s got deeper he’s been less and less convinced by it. Today I put him down and he just stood there and whimpered! I think we’ve all had enough of it now – I’m feel decidedly less enamoured by it [...]

  • sian wrote a new blog post: Snow!

OK, so snow happens pretty much every year, and it’s always pretty much the same, yet it still manages to be exciting all over again every time. Maybe it’s because we rarely had snow when I was growing up, as I did, in the sunny South. Or maybe it’s just because snow covers a multitude [...]

  • sian wrote a new blog post: A few words on Coldplay

OK, I’m testing out the “better late than never” theory again because I have been wanting to blog about the Coldplay gig for ages but never got round to it. It actually happened almost 2 months ago now (how time flies!) so maybe the moment’s passed, but hey, if no-one reads this, it doesn’t really [...]

OK, so I know this is very late, but I figured better late than never. I may be wrong. We shall see.
So, 20 years ago today I was 11 years old. Just. Which means I’d’ve been in Year 6, although we definitely did not call it Year 6 back then, it was Top Juniors. Makes [...]

The glasses were somewhat legendary. Not in a good way. I got very lucky in my family – the only one who never needed glasses or a brace. Not happened when I got old though – now I’m half blind and my teeth have all got holes in…

  • sian commented on the blog post Round 7: If I wasn’t me I would like to be…

I think it’s unfair to hate someone on the basis of her name. She didn’t choose it. She’s stuck with it and I think it’s to her credit that she has done as well as she has for herself while being saddled with such a ridiculous name.
To be fair, her mother said she would never [...]

  • sian commented on the blog post Round 7: If I wasn’t me I’d like to be…

That’s a really good answer, and not a cop out at all. It’s probably much healthier to want to be a certain type of person, rather than an actual person, if you weren’t you.
After how difficult everyone else has found this Round I feel a bit disturbed that I found it so easy…

    Nigella Lawson. No hesitation.
If I had a hero, she would be it.
    Why? Well;
    1) She has an awesome curvy figure that is considered sexy, not fat. And she is generally beautiful (including having amazing hair!)
    2) She eats midnight feasts of whatever she can find in the fridge, with no qualms or second thoughts. I would [...]

I can think of a few bad things about being Isaac. he can’t talk, is pretty unsteady on his feet, can’t yet cope with curry and has to go to bed at 7.30. You wouldn’t last 5 minutes being him.

OK, everyone has now been informed on their own blogs but just in case anyone else wants to join is, Round 7 is “If I wasn’t me, I would like to be…”
    Have fun!

True, and not far off what I had in mind for you!
Anyway, the next round of the Blogenge, if you wish to continue to participate, is due in by next Wednesday and the title is
    “If I wasn’t me, I would like to be…”
    Enjoy.

Sharing the list is a good idea, but I’m going to go with my own idea for Round 7.
    “If I wasn’t me, I would like to be…”
But you know the answer to this already because I’ve already told you so you probably won’t need to read my blog for this round.

  • sian wrote a new blog post: Round 6 – The Soundtrack to My Life

This one has been a bit of a struggle for me as I don’t know enough music and I really don’t think my life is interesting enough to have a soundtrack. It would be like one of those films that I love, but in which nothing really happens, Lost In Translation or Girl With a [...]

Also, you said you’d have bagpipes for your death scene because “you’d be dead so we’d have to suffer too”.
Hello? You’d be dead. Would I not have suffered enough already?

    1. Winnie-the-Pooh – technically it’s actually four books, two story books and two poetry books but I’ll just count it once even though it could happily be my first four choices.
    2. The Very Hungry Caterpillar – I know it’s on lots of lists already but it is awesome. It was on my list of books [...]

I love your blog. It’s very pretty. I’d liek to say I would have designed you a better one but I’m not convinced I would have. I have a few ideas in my head for what I would do for you but haven’t actually made it yet so I don’t know how good it would [...]
