Jonny commented on the blog post Passion And The Purpose
You’re not far behind… you’ll catch up easily. Just read Chapter 5 this morning: “To Show the Wealth of God’s Love and Grace for Sinners”. I learned that “Jesus didn’t die for frogs”. Amazingly – that is an actual quote. Go Piper!

Jonny wrote a new blog post: Passion And The Purpose
Ok,
Very, very short post here because I’m pretty darn busy. I’m sorry for my continued absence from the blogosphere. I won’t ask whether I’ve been missed (I just want to be loved).
Anyhoo, as you’ll probably know, Lent is upon us. 8 pancakes with Ice Cream, Strawberries and [...]3 weeks ago · View

Andy,
Cheesy Christian-don’t-follow-me-follow-Jesus-bumper-stick-type-person response is: God would be in the forest to hear it… so it does still fall over! hehe
I like Ali’s response, although I’d be concerned that they’d kill the man anyway once they’d kill me… so I’d probably try to defend him.
Anyone ever see Costner’s Wyatt Earp film (clevery named “Wyatt Earp”). He [...]1 month ago · View

It looks very cool and shiny, but I think that lack of flash is a big deal. Also, the name is stupid. Sounds like some kind of lady product. iPad 2.0 will have wings.
Too far? Probably.1 month, 1 week ago · View

Absolutely. This sort of living can make such a difference. I think you’re spot on when you say that a lot of it comes down to Christians getting hold of the idea that “this isn’t my stuff – it’s God’s”.
Also, when you get an iPad, can I borrow it?

I was chosen to explain the what Podcasts & Vodcasts are to the Church congregation. Once I’d finished, I don’t think folks could remember their own names, let alone what a Vodcast is…

I hate to admit it Bek, but ashamedly I do understand that sci-fi reference.
Please can you all refrain from pointing that out to my wife. She already has enough geek ammunition to fire at me.

Sian – it’s ALWAYS ok to kick animals for comedic effect.
Always.
In fact, I’m kicking a guinea pig right now, just to test if it’s funny.1 month, 2 weeks ago · View

I like the idea of a weekly ethical debate…
The question of the mother stealing to help her sick child is a great one, because I find it’s the sort of question that gets asked a lot.
My undoubtedly flawed argument would point to when the woman caught in adultery was going to be stoned, Jesus said [...]1 month, 2 weeks ago · View

Yeah… I think another important point is about scale.
It’s somewhat easier to say I’d intervene if there was a chance of stopping 9/11 or of stopping Hitler etc. However, it’s a problem we’re unlikely to face.
I think though, that whether something is the right thing to do, it is irrespective of scale. If someone with [...]1 month, 3 weeks ago · View

Oooohhh… good post!
My first instinct was number 2 – “take the gun, kill the terrorists but it’s still an immoral thing to do”.
However, after thinking about it for a good while, I’d actually choose number 1. But it’s with conditions.
If I was the only one on the plane and the only life at threat, [...]1 month, 3 weeks ago · View

Yeah – I agree… Gen 11 is a really interesting passage.
I think it’s essential that it’s viewed through the lens of the flood happening not many generations before this. Since the fall, over and over again mankind has turned against God and focused on lifting up our own name above his. I think it’s key [...]2 months ago · View

Yeah – I remember my mum telling my dad off each year when he couldn’t find that last box of decorations somewhere in the pitch black loft. We have ours stored neatly in what is basically a giant tup-a-ware box on wheels. Doesn’t seem right somehow.
